Bitchin’ Fridays: Shameless Self Promoting

I have to admit I fall victim to this much like many of you other bloggers, artists, and horn blowers.  But I won’t nag on that today.  Instead I am going to promote my boyfriends new youtube channel and most importantly a segment that we are doing together.

The Show is called Couples Counseling and it is on his channel MagicalNegroGaming; it’s where we play co-op games and have lively discussions on our private life.  I’m just kidding, it’s where we just kill each other and see who will rage quiet first.   Go check it out and leave some comments and likes on the page.

you can watch the first episode here

More SIFF action this weekend, and some more interaction with the parentals.  Come back Monday to see what went on this weekend.  Be sure to follow me on twitter for more updates.

See you on the other side.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day everyone, hope you guys are having fun and safe this holiday weekend.  This past week was crazy as every with SIFF parties and movies.  Just wanted to keep it brief this week so here comes the summery:

  • Monday I made some awesome ribs
  • Tuesday was the big Xbox One reveal, just take my money now Microsoft
  • Wednesday my ear was bothering me, and tried a new restaurant called The Innkeeper; highly recommend for dome Spanish/Mexican cuisine.
  • Thursday went to the doctor and found out I have a minor ear infection and started taking medicated ear drops, which suck if you want to know.
  • Friday went to a SIFF happy hour event and panel, will defiantly have to check out more of those for next year.  I also went to a moral event hosted by my man’s work and was groped by a good girlfriend of mine.  It was rather funny dinner conversation later that night at The Innkeeper, yes we went back.
  • Saturday was another SIFF film and party, what sucked that night was were put on standby to get into the film.  So rather than try our luck we just went to the after party early!
  • Sunday wrote to SIFF on how they can improve their ticketing issues when it come to party pass holders.  We are only restricted to the films that are inconjuntion with our pass and on the web site it says nothing about seating not guaranteed with this particular pass.

So that sums up my week pretty nicely.  If you haven’t checked out the latest party up date it was on Sunday, follow me on Twitter to get more updates on me and SIFF.  See you all on Friday for a rant.

Party Sunday: Shakespeare Party

Been gone way to long from doing this.  Well this may not be posted on an actual Wednesday but it got done!  So anyway, I think a little Shakespeare party is in order.  Instead of focusing on a single particular play, I am focused on the experience it’s self of attending the Globe Theater.

Décor

Your TV is the focal point in this party since you should watch a Shakespearian movie while you are hosting the party. The Globe Theater is difficult to replicate but if you set up your TV area like a stage most people should get the idea.

For building the stage I would refer you back to my Bioshock Infinite party on how to build a booth but build the dimensions according to your TV.

Bench seating and or wooden chairs will fit the style as well.

For your food and drink tables I found a beautiful idea for it using old book pages as a runner.

Add quills and ink pots for the center pieces and encourage your guest to write down some inspirational quote of favorite Shakespearian quote on the pages.

As for lighting keep it bright up until the “plays showing” then dim them down for that true theater experience.

Shakespeare’s Tits

Drink
I found a wonderful word press site that is dedicated to Shakespeare dinks.  Unfortunately they do not have pictures of there drinks but I will like it here for you anyways: http://bard365.wordpress.com/tag/drinks/

This should kick off a night of wonderful reenactments of your favorite Shakespeare plays by some good or bad performers.  I will probably get back to a regular schedule of party Wednesday in a couple of weeks but this should wet your appetite for some more.

Bitchin’ Fridays: Ears Are A Ringing

If you follow me on twitter or read Wednesday’s blog, you would know I came down with an ear infection.  What really suck is that it came on suddenly without any warning.  I haven’t been swimming but I think I may know who I could have been infective.
It may have been a scratch from a cotton swab when I cleaned my ears.  It wasn’t painful, but it did annoy the hell out of me.  For an entire day I had 60 Hz humming in my ear.  I was ready to hack off my ear just to be rid of the noise.  I probably should have gone to the Doctor’s office that day instead of wait until the next morning.  Needless to say go to the doctors regardless if you are in pain or not.  It will save an extra day to heal.
I am hoping to put out a party theme this weekend, be on the look out for that or check out my twitter for updates.

See you on the other side.

No Party Post Today

Sorry folks,
No Party Wednesday today due to my ear acting weird.  I woke up to my ear having this horrible humming in my right ear and has continued all day.  I do not know why this is happening maybe some water got in it when I washed my hair last night but who knows.  I will try to put out a party post sometime this week.  Follow me on twitter to know when that is happening.  If you know why or have suggestion to relive my ear woes please leave me a comment down below.

The Start Of My Month Long Party-A-Thong

Good Monday to you all.  This past week has been delightful and amazing with the kick off of SIFF and the after parties.  I had an amazing time at the opening gala and you can read all about it here, and I have to toot my own horn when I say that I look amazing (oh and my man did as well).
The next party we attended was on Saturday with a film.  It was a French film called Populaire set in the late1950’s and very reminiscent of an old Doris Day and Rock Hudson film with a splash of Mad Men thrown in.  The story is about a girl named Rose who is a dreadful secretary but a mind-boggling typist, so her boss resolves to make her the fastest typist in the world.  Weird plot but it is great how the film makers keep the audience entertained and enthusiastic about typing competitions.

Following the film there was an after party hosted by Il Fornaio with fashion by Oska.  The party was very relaxed and the bar tenders were all very generous on pouring there wines.  I didn’t really sample a lot of the food but there was something fro everyone and what I did have, the brochette and mini cupcakes, were scrumptious.  Sadly not enough networking opportunities at this party again but I was able to do a little networking with a producer I meet at the party!

Aside form SIFF events, I have been franticly trying to train the new kitten, Tali, from now clawing or jumping up on certain things.  I can tell it has been really stressful on my cat Neko.  Somehow we will find a way to all get along with each other, though it would help if my man would be a bit more involved in training since it is his new kitten.
Coming up this week I do plan on making a party Wednesday with a little Shakespearian flare.  Also stay tuned for more party updates and going on in my life via twitter.

Bitchin’ Fridays: SIFF Opening Night Gala

Last night was the Seattle international film festival’s opening night gala.  I had to great opportunity, due in part to my man buying the party pass for SIFF, to attend the gala.  Sadly we were not on the red carpet, that is an additional 200 buck on top of the party pass, but we did get to see Joss Whedon’s film Much Ado about Nothing.

The filming of this movie was done at Joss Whedon’s house, and damn it was a nice looking house, and was filmed in 12 days.  After the film there was a little Q&A with Joss Whedon and cast members Alexis Denisof, Amy Acker, Nathan Fillion, and Clark Gregg.

Following the movie there was a party, and since we have the party pass we got unlimited free drinks, if you just bought general admission you were limited to two.  There was a ton of food from different restaurants, bakeries, and chocolatiers; all of which were sponsors of SIFF.  It was nice to have stationary food venders and people walking around with hors d'oeuvres.  Sadly the director and cast did not attend the party so we didn’t get pictures of them.

            One day Fillion, one day.

Over all it was a great night full of drinks and dancing.  I still have 7 more parties to attend for SIFF, and of course I will keep you up dated with pics ( I bought a new camera) and info.  I will have Monday’s blog up at its usual time and I plan on doing a Party Wednesday blog this coming week as well.  Here is a couple of pics of me getting ready to head out for the party:

Birthday Wishes and Last Minute Items

This past Tuesday was my 27th birthday,  I feel old.  While on my physical birthday I ran around doing errands, I did get a nice meal from my man and some cake.  I did not receive any presents until I reach my moms house the following day, overall a pat on the back and oh yeah it's your day.
If you recall last week I bought my man a kitten for his birthday and gave it to him early.  Well had had to take her to the vet due to he poop.  I will spare you the details but she had a stomach parasite and has to be separated from my cat Neko for about a month or until she is clear.  This has been tough for my man since he basically wants them to instantly become friends.  I find this great so Neko can slowly accept the kitten, Tali, and make a new friend.
Not much has really happened this week, but I did see a friends movie that was playing at STIFF.  It was ok, you can read more about is on last Fridays blog.  Also I have finished gathering items for the SIFF Gala, now I just have to transport it all back to the apartment.
Hope everyone had a good relaxing Mother's Day, this week there will only be Fridays blog.  I will try to throw a party Wednesday blog out there next week.

See you on the other side.

Bitchin' Friday: The Importance of Editing

This past Monday my friend and I went to see another friend of mine's film playing at STIFF, not to be confused with SIFF.    This was the first full length film that my friend made, it is a story about a depressed man who takes advice from a mold growing in his bathroom.  The premiss is good, though the depressed man looking for a new path has been over done, and the overall production quality was well done but something seemed off.
My friend who came with me, we had a long discussion as to why we did not like the film.  While we both agreed about the positives of the film but what we couldn't get past was the editing or lack there of.  The film's director was also the writer and film editor, do you see where this is going.  In my personal belief you can write and direct a film and even do a little bit of editing, but what doesn't work is when you do it all.  When you do it all the story and flow of the movie may make sense to you but will seem jumbled and long to the audience.
I looked on the IMDB page for this film and not one person is listed as a secondary editor or writer.  There is a reason why you see five or ten different writers and editors for a major motion picture.  Now I am in no way saying that having multiple people in one role makes a good film, what I am saying is that it is a good idea to have an outside view critic  the film's story and over all flow before the final print.  Even I as a sound editor will ask another editor to come listen to my work to see if I need to add or subtract some sounds.
This is essential to film editing, cut out all the unnecessary scenes.  If it doesn't help progress the story or character build it does not need to be in there.  The last thing you need is for your audience to be bored or walking out of the theater.   Cut the fat!

I Became a Butterfly and Acquired a Kitten

Haven’t been tweeting much due to a new addition in our small family, but more on that later.  What I have been doing is making new friendships and rekindling old ones.  I can safely say now I am good on being a social butterfly; now I just have to keep the ball rolling for all the SIFF parties.
The first part of my week was spending the whole day with my new film buddy (let’s call her Jane).  We meet at the Film happy hour a couple of times and finally got together outside of the event.  Her and her husband are great and can’t wait for our GURPS Campaign to assemble.  What is GURPS well let me just Google it for you: GURPS
Mid-week I meet up with my talented and creative friend Kiri.  I just thought we were only going to have Brunch but it turned out to be a shopping trip to a wonderful store called Mishu.  I bought a crop jacket and the best/comfortable pants ever.  I would take a picture of them but at the moment they are covered in cat hair.
Thursday night I went kitten hunting online.  My man has wanted a new kitten for the past month as a companion for him.  My cat, Neko, only shows affection towards me and after his cat died back in September, he has been longing for a companion.  I found 3 tuxedo kittens in Kitsap County Human Society.
On Friday I rushed over to attempt to snatch up one of these kittens.  I was calling them like a mad woman when they finally answered and said they will be at the Petsmart in Silverdale.  After a frantic car ride with my mom we arrived to find out that they were all sold.  My hope was dashed until one of the volunteers said they had another off site adoption in Poulsbo.  We back tracked our way to Poulsbo and they had two left, one all black the other a tuxedo.
Both were adorable but the cat that passed away was an all black cat and it would remind him too much of his beloved Salem.  I found out they were not available to take home that due to the black one having an eye infection and they were afraid of the other having it as well.  I still filled out the paper work and that night I got the call she is fine and ready to fully adopt the next day.
After the 10 pages of paper work I have the new kitten for my man’s early birthday gift.  I brought her home on Saturday and naturally Neko hated the new kitten, but she will get use to it.  When I presented the new kitten to my man he immediately squealed with joy and thanked me profusely.  Her new name is Tali from Mass Effect, and she fits her name perfectly.

Coming up this week is movie premier with friends and escaping to my mom’s house for my birthday.  No new party Wednesday this week again, but stay tuned for Friday’s rant.

Bitchin’ Fridays: Lack of Bra Service

Buying a bra is a bitch.  There is nothing more annoying than trying on several styles and colors while look at your self almost nude with your gut and flubby bits hanging out.  This is exactly why I normally go to Nordstrom to get fitted for my bras, and where’s why.
When I go to Nordstrom I expect the type of service that waits on you almost hand and foot.  You do get this type of customer services any where in the store, except at the lingerie department.  I don’t know if they were understaffed that particular day or time but trying to hunt someone down was near to impossible.  I have to wait in the check out line for nearly 10 minutes just to ask for help in finding a strapless bra in my size.
Now the key to strapless bras is that they have to stay up and now have any wiggle room between the cup and boob.  Ideally you would want them to measure and fit you in a room and look at the bra on you to determine if it is the right fit or cup.  Maybe I over anticipated that I would receive that type of service.  Being thrown into a room with five different brands that were all the same size as my regular strapped bra was the strap that broke the camels back.  In the end I walked out with out a bra, and have no intention on returning to that particular store for bra services.
Be sure to follow me on twitter and subscribe to this blog, I put out new posts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
