I'm Back,Bots!

Wheee, so I've been gone for quite some time. Almost a month if I remember correctly. Off the bat, so sorry to all my little bots that still follow me. But if you have followed me on Tumblr, Twitter, or Instagram you would have seen all my progress photos of that damn Ivy costume plus some more awesom things.

What other awesome thing you might ask? Well for starters I hacked off all my hair.

Yup, I was sick of the dead/split ends and weight of the hair when I washed it. Truth be told I told no one and I wasn’t originally going to be this short. Ah fuck it. Hair grows.

This past month I was finishing up the trailer for the documentary i'm going to be working on this May. That is all finished up, had a few tweaks but over all it turned out great. You can watch the trailer here:

For a majority of the past 2 weeks before Emerald City Comic Con I was working on that damn Ivy costume. It took for ever to sew every leaf by hand onto the body suit and hand stitch the embroidery as well. The night before I went I was stitching on the embroidery to the suite. To be honest, I'm not 100% happy with the costume. There were some more embroidery that need to be done and added, as well as add more pizazz to the bustle as well. But for a first showing it was ok. For the pictures I saw I see that I really need to lose weight. Hot damn, those thunder thighs. But it was good to see my self in that light and to motivate myself to losing weight again.

So I premiered Poison Ivy on Saturday, here are some of the pictures and you can view the full album of un-edited pictures on my flicker site here: Poison Ivy

The amazing Mikozilla in her fem Varric

My man bought a back up costume for me just incase I couldn’t get together. It was a Harley Quinn from Arkham City. I had a lot of fun with this costume, might make a better one for Pax Prime if I have time. Here are some pics of her and a link to the flicker album: Harley Quinn

The low points of the con were:
  • saying goodbye to my friend Katie who is moving down to California for school
  • almost being hit by a car while crossing in the cross walk with it was green.
  • Having the most shittiest waitress in all the land at the Hard Rock Cafe, it was so bad we didn’t even leave her a tip. We never do that but when you ignore us for the entire time we are there and give my boyfriend an attitude when as for the check, you don’t deserve one bitch.
Last week was con recovery, and getting my man ready to go over to London on a business trip for a whole week. I'm sad he is gone this week but I'm more upset at myself for not going over there. * sigh* I guess this means I just have to save up money for the next couple of years so I can go over and have a kick ass time in England... maybe try to attend London Comic Con while I'm there as well...

This week I'm hanging with the cats, trying to find a part time job, and try not to go crazy while my man is away in London.

Too Busy Sewing To Post

So sorry for being quiet this past week little bots, I've been franticly trying to get my Poison Ivy costume done in time for Emerald City Comic Con. I've been posting progress pictures on my Instagram, when I'm 100% done I will post all the photos up on this blog so you can see it from start to finish. The biggest part of the project hands done thus far is the embroidery. As of right now, I have 1 ½ pieces done out of 7... Yeah I'm feeling behind.

So I will be posting on this blog once this costume is done. I will post on Twitter, Tumbler, and Instagram of a few progress pictures, but I really need to sit down and plow threw this embroidery and sewing on hundred of leaves. Sorry, love you all little bots, I will be back.

See you on the other side.

Sound Mix, Check, Cosplay Coming Along

I'm really doubting we are going to get a normal rainy Seattle winter and spring this year.  I love the rain and dark gloomy weather, it's the only time i get to wrap myself up in baggy comfy clothing and no one cares.  But alas, it appears we will be having a warm spring and summer which usually follows into fall.  I don't look good in summer cloths.  I want to be a sloth.

Enough about the "beautiful" weather, I'm happy to say that the trailer that I received last week I've finished.  Cleaned up the audio, mixed it, and sent it out on Friday.  Now I'm just waiting to hear if they need anything tweaked since they are presenting this on Thursday and I personally would like at least 2 days to fix anything before the meeting.

With my sound projects done, I'm shifting focus to my Poison Ivy cosplay For ECCC.  I had to hand set the sheer top which took forever to do.  but that is now done and I plan on tacking it on to the body suite today and sketch out the embroidery pattern for the top.  My goal this week is to Have a good portion of the embroidery done and work on the bustle this weekend when my man can help me.  If all goes well I will have progress photos next Monday.

I have a busy week ahead of me little bots, See you Friday!

Feet Shuffling And Progress

Sorry for the M.I.A this past Friday, I was busy working on Foley work for the absent Director and warping up that project with him. Once he signed the contract and sent over the first half of the money, it was smooth sailing. I was able to complete the work in two days that we agreed upon and even did a little bit of tweaking of the feet on friday after he paid me the rest of the money. Over all the experience went well and he was happy with the end result and so was I.

I was able to get into contact with the director for the documentary. I was getting worried since I was suppose to get the trailer for the documentary last week and I never did. Luckily She got back t me and now I have a week to complete it before it goes to the client, but if I need more time she said she will stale for me. After viewing the raw mix, it's not so bad and can punch it out this week and still have time for revisions.

With all this work my Poison Ivy costume had to take a back seat for a bit, but now I'm feeling the crunch and need to step up on completing her before ECCC. I just need to hand sew (yes this is why it is taking so damn long, I really need to buy a sewing machine) the top portion and hem it. I am planing on beaning that out the next couple of days then starting on the embroidery for the top. I've ordered more leaves and need to start sewing those on. Oh and lets not forget about making that bustle, shall we... I think I will make it....I hope. If I plan on making the entire bustle this weekend I should be ok.

This weekend I did take a break from everything and went to my friend Arwen Cosplay's birthday at the EMP. It was great to get out of my work space/home and to try to remember how to interact with people. You should check out her facebook page, give it a like and say hi to her at ECCC. She will be appearing all 3 days in 3 different costumes. Click the picture below to get to her page.

So this week working on the trailer mix and trying to work on Ivy. I will post something this Friday I promise, have a good week little bots!

Hanging Out With The Parents And V-Day

Wow, it is supper sunny here in Seattle. I wish we got some snow this year, supper jealous of you east coasters. Last week I visited my parents, my dad came home for retirement and I wanted to say hi. But I was mainly over there since I had a dermatologist appointment. My mother made the appointment for me due to my stupidity many years ago in my teen years of sitting out in the sun and getting really bad burns. The good news is my sink looks great and don’t need a follow up appointment any time soon. The bad is I have a few moles that I didn’t know about on my back but they look ok. While I was there I was treated to very delicious meals from Port Gamble and over here in Seattle.

This past weekend was Valentines day weekend and everyone decided to invade downtown. So I thought I would avoid everyone and go up to Capitol Hill and checkout the Starbucks Roastery cafe. But all the tourist decided to invade, so we just went into the Serious pie restaurant which is attached to the roastery for some lunch. After lunch we went to the comic book shop to pick up our comics and went home to relax. I asked for nothing on V-day because my couch I'm count as my x-mas/anniversary/valentines gift since it was an expensive couch. But I did get my man a Life Aquatic themed gifts, which included a steve shirt and a Kingsly red hat.

Quick work update: still waiting for the documentary trailer, final got the absent director to sign the contract but now waiting for him to send me the money so I can start. Going to have to send him an email tomorrow if he doesn’t send it soon. And finally I was contacted by a recurter for Holo Lens, I talked to them and said I would be interested but I have my doubts of getting the job since the recurter said they were looking for some one with game audio experience. And this morning I revived an email from the recurter saying they’re going to hire people with game audio experience. Called it.

Have a good week little bots, I will be working very hard on finishing the sheer top part of my ivy costume, and start working on the embroidery for the top as well. See you all friday for a bitch out session on probably the absent director.

See you on the other side.

Working On Cosplay

Early morning blog just for you little bots. I've had a productive week of working on my Poison Ivy costume for ECCC. I've duck taped my body to use... that turned out horrible so my man bough me a dress form and I was on my way to mocking up patterns, cutting up fabric, and painting my shoes. I'm happy to say the shoes are 95% done, they just need some leaves glued onto the back of the heel and those puppies are done!

I just need to sew up the top part by hand since I still do not have a sewing machine. What fun. Once that is all sewed up and looks all right, I just have to embroider like a mad woman and add those pieces to the top and sew on leaves the body... fingers crossed that I have time to do it all before the end of March.

Besides working on my costume, I've been working on writing up a contract for the missing director. I heard back from him on Monday evening, he answered 2 of my 3 questions so I had to write him back and wait until Saturday night to hear his response to my last question. Apparently a family member was in the hospital... where have I heard that one before. Regardless I sent out the contract Sunday morning and now just waiting on him to fill out his info and sign it. Lets see how long he takes to do this...

If you follow me on instagram, you can see that this week I've turned into a hipster. Kill me now. My man bought a Guardians of the Galaxy vinyl record and wanted to buy a record player to listen to it. So after driving around and out 600 bucks we have a nice setup to listen to records. What has downtown done to me!

This week I'm visiting my parents for a few days then I'm going to do romantic weekend with my man. What do we do for romance you may ask, well we are going to sit around and play video games and avoid the love struck crowd that will be invading our streets on Saturday. Yup, we are going that old couple that glares at the young and yell at them to keep off our grass, or streets. So have a good week little bots, catch you Friday!

Back From A Break

Hey little bots, I'm back from my retreat from my mom's house of gathering materials for my Poison Ivy costume for ECCC and to spend some quality time with my mom without anyone else.  It's so strange going back to my childhood home, mostly due to it being ripped up from remodeling.  It's slowly coming together but with worker coming in and out of the house it's hard to relax until the leave at 5pm.

Besides hanging out with my mom, I gathered many supplies for Poison Ivy.  I have the body suit, the fabric for the bustle, embroidery floss and material to sew the embroidery pattern, and random other sewing supplies.  All I need to do now is to make my duck tape body forum and put all this shit together.  Side note I bought some ivy leaves off of amazon but the company sent me the wrong type of leaves, but they were cool and are sending me what I originally  bought and letting me keep the other leaves as a gift.  Still wait for the leave to come in, if they have not arrived by the first week of February I'm ordering from another company.

Returning home as usual my man lives like a bachelor and the place was a mess.  So this past weekend was cleaning house, laundry and buying underwear from Victoria's Secret.   I think for now on I will buy underwear either on line or for Nordstrom because VS is a zoo full of misleading signs and idiot customers.   Never. Again.

This week I'm finishing up on the clean up work for the documentary, and looking forward to hearing what the cheap ass director has to say after my last email i sent today.  Have a good week and stay busy little bots.

More Death and Body Talk

Good Monday little bots. Hope last week was better than mine, I'm all ready sick of the new year. I just want to hit the reset button and start over. If you follow me on twitter you already know why if you don’t well I'm going to explain to you now.

As many of you know who read my blog last month one of my mom's horses (Annie) had to be put down. This cause a lot of stressed on our last remaining horse, Sackett, who was already having heart issues and feeding problems. For the past several weeks since Annie's passing Sackett had been moping around, barreling eating, and losing a lot of weight. With a these thing he became weaker and weaker until my mom had to come to a very difficult decision to put him down. We discussed it on Tuesday and planed for the next day for him to be “put to pasture”. However it had to be push back to Thursday due to the vet not having the medicine to knock him out before you euthanize until late that afternoon. So my mom decided to push it back to Thursday so she can have a proper hole to put him in. So sadly the very last childhood pet is gone, I miss him dearly. He was hands down the best riding horse any rider could ask for. Love you Sackett, you are missed.

In between balling my eyes out and thinking about my horse, I was working on the audio clean up for the documentary I received last Friday. It's going well the only major issue i'm finding is the consent boom pole handling. It's like the audio tech could not stop moving his or her hands up and down the pole. I've cleaned up as much as I could with out messing up the dialogue but it's still faintly there and its bugging me.

I've also been very diligent on my 30 day work out challenges. I feel a bit stronger and i've noticed a slight difference in my arms, my thighs still look like shit so I might have to repeat that challenge.
Along the same note, I ordered a body suite from amazon to use for my Poison Ivy costume that I'm making for Emerald City Comic Con. The Suite came in later that week but it didn't even come up to my breasts. This suite featured off to the left side is supper small if you have a long torso. The cup size was right one the bikini bottom became a thong and the front half gave me a massive camel toe, so ordering a “larger size” (they only go by bra/cup size) would be pointless if I had to do some major stuffing that would not work at all for my costume. Needless to say it was returned the very next day and I already got my money back from amazon.

This week I'm still working on the clean up audio and I have a Women In Film event this tuesday up in Capitol Hill. I hate going up to Capitol Hill at night, so many weird people and that uneasy feeling like you are going to be mugged. So see you friday if I am still alive then.

Bug Bites Everywhere!

I'm melting little bots. I'm becoming a puddle of flesh and sweat. To it is suppose to get up to 90 something today and if you know me at all I hate the heat. Fans are blasting on high right now, the windows a re closed to keep the heat out, and the cat don’t look like they have heat stork so I should be good until the thunder storm hits tomorrow. Until that happens I'm not going to do anything strenuous or cook anything in my apartment.

So last week I had to do adult things... managing stocks. The details are so boring I was even falling asleep, but hopefully now I can have my stocks make me money instead of staying at one level. I seriously need a retirement fund that is huge so I can retire at 60 and not 80.

Also last week I ran away to my parents house and had the most amazing meal. We all went to Pikes Market and at at a french restaurant called Maximilien. We sat outside, the view of the ferrys And West Seattle couldn’t be beat. The food was wonderful, well seasoned, and not to heavy for a warm day. The down side for me to go there every week is the pricy. At the end of the meal the bill for 3 people was well over $200, but we did have cocktails, 3 course meal, and a bottle of wine. I would go back for a special occasion or if I saved up some money.

While at my parents house my sister and her family came down for a visit. It's so weird to see children growing up. Last time I saw them was 4 months ago and from that to now they have all grown so much, one of them is almost as tall as my mom. It creeps me the fuck out. Aside form that It was a pretty relaxing weekend aside from all the bug bits that I revived. My legs look as though they have some weird disease on them. So I left Sunday morning to return to the city where the bugs don’t bite me.

So not much happened this past week, skipped seeing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie due to the fact that I do not want my childhood to be ruined. I'm getting my costume ready for a friends party that is 80s-90s themed. With a simple costume I kinda wish I was going at least another convention so I could make an awesome costume. But I have to save money and properly plan out my costumes for Emerald City Comic Con. On that note of cosplay, wanted to show you a video of what cosplayers need to stop doing, and it is not what you think. Have a great week little bots and fingers crossed I don’t turn into a puddle of human flesh.

Bitch'n Friday: Convention Pervs

Happy Friday little bots, hope where ever you are at it is bright and sunny day. San Diego Comic Con was last weekend; news and sneak peaks on films and TV shows were announced, New comics, and awesome cosplay. Unfortunately many instances of sexual harassment happened over the course of the weekend. Most widely talked about was the Jack Ass who thought it would be funny to stick his finger into the butt crack of Alicia Marie who was dressed as Tigra. I praise Adrianne Curry for beating the shit out of that pervert, but I wished that a male bystander could have restrained him long enough for enforcers and police to arrive.

It sickens me that people think that it is ok to go up to cosplayers and gorp them, shove cameras into there faces (but mostly boobs), or verbally harassing them sexually and or calling them “fake geek”. Were they not taught not to touch a stranger, ask permission, if you nothing nice to say; say nothing at all, or any etiquette what so ever? If they were not taught how to behave in a social setting, my god those parents need to be slapped. But most likely they were taught and forgot along the way and use the pathetic excuses “I'm socially awkward.”

Socially awkward does not give you the permission to act like a sexually predator. Just because a girl or guy is wearing a barely there costume does not mean you should touch them or take pictures just there private areas. Further more if you do touch someone without their permission or take a provocative photo, that can land your ass into jail and you will be labeled a sexual predator by the law. If you think walking up to a girl is awkward; just imagine doing that every time you move into a new neighborhood and have to introduce your self to all you new neighbors as a sexual predator.
If you find it difficult not to do these things, then you should stay home. If you still want to attend a convention where there are cosplayers and women follow these basic rules where you wont be a creeper.

  1. Always ask permission to take a picture.
Sometimes the person is on there way to another event or eating and they don’t want their picture taken at that time. That's ok, keep an eye out for them later in the day or even ask if they are joining a group photo shoot later in the day.

  2. When Taking a picture shoot full body or ask to take a selfie with you.
Just boob shoots are not ok! Or butt shoots, or up-skirt shoots as well. Also if you see anyone doing these things, please report it!

  3. Keep your hands to yourself!
This really has to go with out saying. If you want a hug, ask permission. Same goes with putting your arm around them. Most armor is a bitch to make and put on, we do not want to be readjusting every time some one touches it. When in doubt think of it as a strip club, if you touch the strippers you are bounced out quicker than a humming bird flaps it's wings. Also the the shit will be beaten out of you.

  4. Complement them on their costume and not their body.
You come off as a creeper if you start telling them how sexy they are over and over again. Or say they have really nice boob/butt, while you may think its a complement the person will feel uncomfortable. That is where you will be labeled as a creeper to every cosplayer, word spread like wild fire at cons.

  5. If you are going to harass some one claiming they are not geeky enough; Keep your mouth Shut!
If you personally think they are a fake geek and are only there for attention, just shut up. You know nothing about them and should watch this informative video about “fake geek girl.”

  6. Always say thank you and leave.
You want to thank the coplayer for allowing you to take their picture and or striking up a conversation with them. Once your business is done leave them alone, and DO NOT FOLLOW THEM AROUND. Again you become that creepy con creeper.

So if you can follow basic etiquette of keeping hands to your self and shutting up, you should be fine. If not not do not attend any convention ever. While I doubt this trend of convention creeper is going to end any time soon, us regular convention goers should keep an eye out and report or photograph anyone who breaks the rules of the convention. We are the one that can stop it, and put those in check.
If you have anything to add please leave me a comment down below. I'll see you Monday for a wrap up of my week.

Movie weekend and Parting

Happy Tuesday little bots, a day late but at least I am not skipping an up date. This past week I mostly played Destiny Beta on both systems just for comparison sake. Newsflash, not noticeable difference graphically or otherwise when comparing the two. I did a whole blog on how I felt about Destiny last friday and you can check it out here: Bitchn' Fridays: Destiny Beta Review

Friday night my man and I went to the movies to see Lucy staring Scarlett Johansson. I know quiet a few people and critics have bashed this film, mostly due to the tag line and the premise that humans use only 10% of their brain capacity. While yes this is 100% false, but if you take it as this is this films reality and think of it more fantasy than science fantasy you will enjoy more. Towards the end of the film it started reminding me of Akira, if you have never seen Akira you really need to it is a classic anime that many films have attempted to touch on. If you can relax and watch a film as a film and not over analyze every little detail of “science” that goes on, you will enjoy it.

Sunday we saw Hercules starting Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson. It was ok, it was not the Hercules movie that everyone has been waiting to see. Instead of the 12 labors, which Hercules is known for, and being a true demi-god that he is. What we got was a “realistic” Hercules, who is a leader of a mercenary group, and a story line taking place after the 12 labors that no one really cares about. You do have great PG-13 fight scenes and Dwayne Johnson did a good job, it is more or a rental flick than a go out to the movies type. Hell, Lucy crushed it at the box office.

Aside from movie going, I attended a friend's annual midsummer party. You usually dress up as faeries or other woodland creatures and come eat and drink the night away. I of course went as Catbug, it's the only wings that I have people, and drank a little to much. By a little to much I mean I some how wounded up in a bikini and jumping into a hot tub with a bunch of people I barley know. But good times all around and I left early...12am-ish I think...
My friend and I at the party...I was already 3 sheets to the wind at this point.
Well this week its back to the grind stone of finding work or at least a temp job. Maybe I'll see Guardians of the Galaxy, I don’t know yet, but I will be going to my favorite place to get chilli: The Chilli Shack with some friends. See you back here friday for some rant of some kind.

Future Cosplay For 2015

The heat is almost gone from my apartment and that means my brain function is going to start working normally again!   Sorry for the lack of updates, last week was full of shopping and helping my mom out at the house.  Needless to say I'm on the prowl for more work/part time job.  the part time job would feed my new addiction of cosplay making and convention impulse buying.   I don't have any plans on attending anymore conventions this year, but  that also means that I need to shape up my body for my next planed costumes.

What costumes you may ask, well for ECCC next year I'm planing on doing another DC Bombshell from one of my favorite artist Ant Lucia: Supper Girl!
I just love this outfit, those boots!  I'm dying.

The one I have planed is for RTX 2015.  It's Fem Sun from RWBY.
By Verdantos Grenice
Sun is one of my favorites from this series, and he has shotgun nunchucks!
Got to start working on my abs.

Other than that, my man and I have been losing sleep over his works new changes in security towards vendors and what it means to his team.  What may end up happening is after working 18 months you are forced to take a 6 month break!  That would ruin his team and a majority of people who would be forced to take a break would find employment else where.  Everyone is scrambling for a solution and now it is a wait and see what happens.  Worst case scenario he finds another job in 18 months.

Changing the the subject to a more happier tune, Have you been watching the new Sailor Moon Crystal series?!  All the feels of childhood is rushing back to me when I watch it.  If you haven't seen it, what is wrong with you, go get your butt to Hulu and watch it!  To hold you over here is the full opening credits song by Momoiro Clover Z.

Although I prefer the opening song of Attack on Titian for the opening credits....

Have a good week little bots, see you Friday for something...

Bitch'n Friday: RTX 2014 ReCap

Hi little bots, it's been a busy week getting back to normal mode. I'm pleased to see that blogger posted last weeks post on time, hope you all enjoyed the “progress” photos that I took. I had so much fun down in Austin, seeing old friends that I would only see once a year and making new ones as well. Lets jump into my recap shall we....

So a couple days before we dropped off the cats at my parents house and the day/night before was spent packing/panicking over if I had everything I needed for RTX. We flew out July 3rd, I expected the airport to be a zoo but to my surprise we breezed threw security and had 2 hours to kill. The flight down was very smooth and no issues until we walked out of the plane. Holy crap, the wave of heat and humidity immediately washed over me. I felt so grungy while waiting for a taxi.

We saw our friend E waiting in line behind us and offered to share a cab with him. It was nice to catch up with an old friend and have the cab expended. We stayed at the Hilton a crossed the street form the convention center, its so nice to walk from a/c to a/c in a matter of 30 seconds. Our room faced north, which had the view of the Longhorn's stadium and the capitol build.

Sorry for the bad photos I was using my Ipad.

Day 1, I dressed up as a pin-up creeper from Minecraft. Simple cosplay but I love doing the make up on this one!

The convention center is rather small and it was cool to attend a smaller convention so you are able to see and do pretty much everything. We ran into a friend of ours on the show floor, and later that night we hung out in downtown, eating and drinking the night away.

Day 2, I was in my Catbug cosplay. Sadly the wrinkles could not be ironed out of the bottom part of the skirt and it also lost it's poof while traveling. It was still great but I want to fix it up and take some better pictures of this costume.

Also on day 2 was a lot of line waiting to get into panels, but we did get into the 343 Halo panel and immersion panel. Saw some awesome stuff for the Halo Master Chief collection: Gungoose!

The funniest part of that day was while waiting for the immersion panel to start, a guy ran (well more like plowed) threw a bunch of people to get a selfie with me in costume. He had his hand all over my man's face while trying to get the best angle for the selfie.

Day 3, I was awoken at 5 in the morning by my man saying he is going to the ER because he had kidney stones. Being the good girlfriend, I offered to go with him but he said to stay and enjoy the convention. He had Kidney stones before so I wasn’t really worried, I just wanted him to feel better. I tried to go to sleep after that but kept waking up to the a/c and texts from my man. When the convention opened I went out and enjoyed myself.

No costume that day, just some shorts and t-shirt. When I ran into my friends they were all concerned about my man, but I was just laughing it off. When he did return from the ER, we were both shocked how little the bill was...Texas is hella cheap! He napped in the room for the entire afternoon, I would go check on him and return to the convention.
Day 4, our flight didn’t leave until 6 at night, so we decided to go explore the capitol grounds until we had to leave for our flight. We took a tone of pictures of the capitol and RTX but most of them were on my man's hone and I just need to confiscate it so I can send them them to me.

Overall we really enjoyed RTX, we both have a few critics on how it can be run better and smoother, but I will save that for another day. We are planning on going back for RTX 2015, new costume is in the works for that one. Cant wait to visit Austin and RTX again!

Working For The Vacation

Happy Monday little bots! Last week was full of frantic last minute emails and sound editing/mixing on top of trying to finish my cosplay for RTX. If you don’t know what RTX is well it's Rooster Teeth's convention held in Austin Texas. Don t know who Rooster Teeth is... click on the logo here to find out more:

So last week was full of emails back and forth on altering the mix, having a deadline finally, and finishing the film once and for all! I probably did 3 different versions of the mix before today. I'm happy to say that I finished in time for the deadline so Team Awesome can send it out to festivals without having to pay for a late entry. I have not heard back from them since last night about my final mix, so yeah that is a tad nerve wracking but not much we can do at this point.

Aside from work, I've been busy throwing together my costume for RTX and praying everything will fit into my carryon bag. For the better part of week was spent hand sewing beads on my dress. I am so glad the Netflix has all the seasons of Dexter, I've been having that as background noise while I work is very relaxing. I probably spent about over 12 hours beading the dress. I also dyed my cat ears blue, make a harness, construct the wings, and finished my accessories. I took a few pictures but I'm not very good at recording my progress. I'll post some pics of it for Friday's blog.

Some sad news, my man's grandmother past away on Friday. I've only meet her once but she was a very nice lady. I'm very sorry to see her pass but her health was failing and i'm sure she is more comfortable now. Aside from her passing, I'm disappointed with the interaction and communication failure between my man and his mother. Once again they have butted heads, he is unable to make it out to the funeral service and she wants him there. I understand both points and arguments that both parties have made and I'm afraid their differences has driven a wedge further into their relationship. The only plausible outcome for them to every have a healthy relationship is counseling but I know my man would never agree to go. An intervention with them sitting down to talk would only result in them strangling each other so that would be a no go as well.
In the end they are both the same, suborn asses.

This week I'm prepping to fly out to Austin, getting the apartment ready for when we leave and having my mom take care of our cats. I hope Blogger will post Friday's blog without a hitch and instead of a Monday blog it will be on Tuesday. Have a good week everyone, stay tuned for some RTX recap when I get back!

Project Crunch Time

Hi little bots, sorry for not post on friday but I really didn't have much to post about on my cosplay that would fill an entire post. Last week I worked on the final mix for Team Awesome and worked on my Catbug costume for RTX. The majority of my week was spent on hand sewing covers for the outer shell of the ladybug wings. I really do need to get a sewing machine.

But this weekend I made progress on the rest of the wings, made the clear wing part and harness. I have discovered that I will need to assemble the wings in austin due to there size and me not wanting to have them go threw baggage claim. I've spent way to long on them to be broken and tossed around.

So today as I wait to hear back from Team Awesome I will be getting the back piece done so all I have to do in Austin is stick the wings threw it and tape that shit up. After that it is a matter of adding flair to the rest of the costume, I've already cut my wig and dyed my ears. With any luck I should have it done by the end of the week if that is all I have to do.

Bitch'n Friday: Cosplay Project: Dyeing Polyester

Happy Friday little bots!  I thought I would shake things up this week with a little project update/how-to of my up coming cosplay for Catbug.  Everything thus far is coming along nicely for this costume and I'm hoping to be done with it by mid June so it will be ready for RTX.  So here is how I went from a white polyester satin dress to a light blue polyester satin dress.

I was looking online for a cheep bubble dress for Catbug since my sewing skills are still noob stage and I don’t own a sewing machine.  I found a supper cute bubble dress for under $30 on amazon but it is ivory.  Just about every web site that I went to strongly discourages trying to dye polyester fabrics due to the synthetic fibers not being able to dye well and un-evenly.
I threw caution to the wind and bought the dress:
http://www.amazon.com/Strapless-Bubble-Cocktail-Holiday-Bridesmaid/dp/B00144I0HQ/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1399657962&sr=8-7&keywords=bubble+dress

As you can see it is very shiny and white (I forgot to take a picture of this dress in real life so this is a photo off of amazon where I bought it).  After reviewing what dyes would work best on polyester, I chose to you Idye poly from Jacquard in turquoise.  I wanted a lighter blue than what regular blue would give me and also be closer to catbug's true color.
The Steps to dyeing your fabric:

First you want to wash your fabric either by hand or in the washing machine.  I did it by hand with a little bit of dawn dish soap to get some of the residue and dirt on the dress.  This step help to ensure that your fabric will dye evenly.  DO NOT DRY YOUR FABRIC! Put it off to the side still wet, this will help absorb the dye easier and you don’t have to stand in front of the stove longer than need be.

Next you want to prep your area so you don’t accidentally dye your counter tops or sink.  I've heard that it was a bitch to remove this dye from conter top and stainless steel sinks.

Next is to get a big pot large enough to fit your fabric, fill it with water, and bring it to a boil.  Once it starts boiling add your dye pouch and color intensifier.

Stir until pouch is dissolved.

I did a test strip with two strings that came with the dress one I left in for 10 minutes the other for 30.

These were the results:

As you can see the longer you leave it in the more intense the color will be.

I sucked up my courage and plunged my garment into the boiling dye.  I left my dress hanging instead of it still being submerged in water as a result I ended up fighting it for over 15 minutes to be completely submerged in water.

Now the real fun begins, you have to stand over the boiling pot for 30 minutes to an hour constantly stirring it to ensure that every inch is evenly dyed.  You do not want tot end up with a blotch dress.  Have a show playing in the background, I was watching Markiplier play some horror game.  I enjoyed the commentary he had.

After an hour my dress looked like this:

So now it was time to rinse the dress and pray that it turned out.

When rinsing you want to do warm water with a little bit of  mild detergent to remove excess dye so it wont rub off on you or other objects.

The most intense part is drying.  You need to hang dry it and hope that it did not blotch up any where.  It is hard to tell if it did while it is wet.  Also the color looks darker than what it will be once dried.

After waiting all night my dress turned out better than what I could have hoped.

It is very wrinkly, but nothing like a little ironing wont help.

Over all I'm pleased with how the whole dyeing process went.  If I every had to dye polyester again I would, but with a bigger pot.

Hope this help you if you decide to try to dye synthetic fabric.  Keep in mind that the color might differ from what the color packaging might say.  Defiantly do a test strip to see what color range you will get.

Still have more to do on this dress, like adding beading to the bodice to add a little flair.  Right now it look dull and boring to me at least.    If you have questions feel free to leave them in the comments below.  Enjoy your weekend little bots, see you Monday for a weekly wrap-up.
